The White Mountains

More widely known for its attractions and natural wonders than its artistic offerings, the White Mountains region nevertheless boasts an impressive array of theater and performance options.

In Tamworth, The Barnstormers Theater (the longest running summer stock theater in the country) has been entertaining visitors for 75 consecutive years, while over in North Conway, you can catch theatrical performances at the Mt. Washington Valley Theatre Company in the historic Eastern Slope Playhouse. In addition, M&D Productions produces a variety of shows throughout the year.

In Lincoln, visit the Papermill Theatre, which runs its performances out of the town’s renovated papermill. The troupe produces Summer Mainstage theatre featuring Broadway shows as well as a touring childrens’ theater. In Whitefield, at the northernmost tip of the White Mountains, is the Weathervane Theatre, where you’ll see classic Broadway productions set amidst stunning natural beauty.
